Bryan was actually feeling a little better last week, not so many of the bone, leg and muscle aches. By Friday and Saturday he was pretty tired again though, feeling nauseous, having these crazy hot flashes, stomach burning, etc. The reason.....he had to stop his Gleevec at the end of November. Scary because this is supposed to be the drug that supresses the cancer forever and after only two weeks he had to quit. His blood counts got too low over the weekend, his platelets were down to 35, under 20 and you need a transfusion. His White Blood cells were down to 3, below 1.5 and you have to wear a mask everywhere and stay away from people, because you can catch all sorts of things and your body can not fight any of them. His local oncologist said to stop until we get to Moffitt Cancer Center this Thursday and let the specialists decide the next step. We are not worrying now, we'll just wait and see. It makes sense to us that they will just lower his current dose, his body is just too efficient..... He's so strong, and muscular and good looking, etc.
He is still tired and doesn't have much of an appetite, but overall is feeling a little more normal, so we are trying to just enjoy the little rest and are working on putting up Christmas decorations and catching up on some house stuff.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about this. It is the first that I had heard. If you need anything, let me know. You will be in our prayers man. Keep fighting. You remember football and lifting and just like in all sports and in life. Never give up. When that happens, that's when life is over.
